A surge of dopamine blasts through our brain when we get a line in Tetris, better yet, when we carefully arrange all the blocks, to clear four straight lines at the time! Some people call that a ‘Tetris’.
Playing Tetris feels a bit like planning a schedule.
You have this strip of day called ‘your day’
And during this festive season its filled with all manner of weird shapes all stacked on top of another. And the music is going faster.
Don’t freak out :) Get into the zone. These are your blocks. This is the bonus level! The good stuff that’s coming hard and fast (And the challenges ARE good stuff), this is why you play the game.
You can slow time down by getting your head in the game. The reason everything feels like it’s coming so fast is because you’re splitting your attention, instead of spending the 7 seconds picking the best position for your block. You’re attention is divided amongst 14 different things, meaning only a half second of your available attention is spent on what you’re trying to do.
Focus your attention on the block in front of you; the person your with, the spoonful of festive joy you are eating, the person you’re shopping for, the job at hand.
