When I show up to do a piece of client work, it’s game time.
I’m a footballer on the pitch.
I’m a boxer in a ring.
I have my strategy, I have my game plan and I execute.
When you watch a competition and find one opponent outclassed, they have not been outclassed on the day, they have been outclassed in their preparation, in their practice.
Game time is a celebration or punishment for how we practice.
I’m starting to believe that the method, the practice of making pictures, is the thing of prime value and importance to an illustrator, the end result - the feat is just proof of work.
