Sitting is bad for you.

I’ve been sitting a lot. The list of things that sitting will do you is long. I could list it here, but I won’t, it’s bad. Smoking a pack of cigarettes a day kind of bad.

Here’s what I’m doing about it. I downloaded a time tracker app. And I linked it to Siri, so now every time I sit down I say; “Hey Siri, I’m sitting”. And the timer starts.

I’ve sat for 7 hours and 23 minutes today.

They say you can only change what you can measure. And it’s not just for curing sitting disease. If there’s something you want to improve, just start by diligently Measuring it, you’ll find that you’ll naturally come up with solutions. The biggest problem is we don’t attend to things. We don’t pay attention.

What changes could you make if you started measuring your behavior?

P.S: I’m taking the. class on skillshare about using color in illustration, it’s great!

One thing I love/hate about my Apple Watch is the “time to stand up” feature. On the one hand, it really does keep me from sitting too long (probably because I’m a little obsessive about closing rings, a different story) but on the other hand, I’ll be deeply immersed in something or actually standing up and it will pester me anyway. By the way, I found you through Rebecca Green’s share of your IG post of the color exercise in Tom’s class. I’m thinking I might watch it this weekend. :)
