Sometimes it feels like we’re just marching from one goal to another.
Most of the time though, it feels like there are obstacles in our way, things that we need to overcome. Some of the things I have had to overcome on my path were:
Finding more time to work on my practice
Reducing the number of decisions I need to make every day.
Communicating my vision to my spouse
Spending 300 hours a year on video games
Spending 4 hours preparing and consuming food daily
I though today we could talk about some of the things that are a roadblock to our creative process.
As always feel free to freestyle or use these stubs:
Hi I’m [ Name ], the thing standing in the way of my creative path is [ Name big or small obstacle ]
Hi, I’m Garrett 👋 The thing standing in my way most often is my day job. For years now I’ve had to “sneak in” creative pursuits, either early in the morning, late in the evening or on my lunch breaks. Not impossible to do, of course, but when I think of being at my creative best, it isn’t really when it’s midnight and I’m half asleep. And because of the schedule it also isn’t like I can ride a wave of creativity, as there’s always, “I have to go to work,” “I have to get back to work,” or, “I have to get to bed,” looming around the corner, and therefore impacting focus.
This is such a great question, the thing standing in the way of my creative path is impatience, inner critic and lots and lots of mindless content consumption.
Hello! I'm Brianne, and things staying in the way of my creative path are 1) circling with other work (like prep work, or small things that are easy and feel comfortable rather than a big thing that could be more transformative (and scary)) 2) playing with many ideas, rather than staying consistently on ONE thing and really devoting myself to it, in wild and brave big ways. Thanks for nudging us to think about this, Adam!
I'm Rebecca, and the things standing in my way are 1) leaving the notifications on on my phone (my grown children love to pester me), 2) not being very organized, and 3) too many other hobbies/personal interests. Number 2 is probably the hardest to fix.
I’m Dekera and my day job and having 3 small children often get in the way of regular creation. Btw Adam I tried to book a session but receive a message about Stripe accounts not accepting fees in CA? I don’t live in California. Do you know the solution to this?

Hi I’m Kate, the thing standing in the way of my creative path is self doubt.
