Momentum Monday is Adam Mingās mostly free Monday Newsletter. This means there is an opportunity at the end to support the work I do in exchange for some extras.
Momentum Monday is a movement against the concept of Monday Blues. Because we love our work, instead of seeing Mondays as a day to dread, we see it as a day to embrace. Itās a day to put in some extra effort and energy towards our goals. This newsletter aims to help you do that. Whether youāre looking to kick off a new creative pursuit or keep going on your current creative journey. Momentum Monday is designed to equip, inspire, and motivate you to hit the ground running this week!

Night Schoolā¦
Make Art That Sells is an amazing collection of online classes that introduces you to many aspects of being a professional illustrator. Their illustrating Childrenās books course really helped me turn a dream into a reality. Iād recommend it to anyone even if you have been to art school.
This week Make Art That Sells has made a portion of their MATS MBA free, itās a 10-page worksheet packed with instructions on how to get your dream clients. Iāve worked through it before, but Iām going to be doing it again this week as a refresher.
The section is aptly called More Customers, More Moola Here it is!
Ps: If youāre a classmate from MATS say hey in the comments!
Drawing Prompts
Iāve made all 100 Drawing prompts available in the 100daysofdrawingicons section. Draw them at your own pace, it does not have to be on consecutive days. And Iāll continue to share my own drawings with notes and process videos as and when I have them in that section.
Starting a Sketchbookā¦
If youāre thinking of starting a sketchbook these are exciting times:
WendyMac is facilitating some sketchbook prompts at the Grown-Ups table, sheās even giving away three of her almost unused sketchbooks! WHAT!?
and Tom Froese is teasing a new sketchbook class:
The thing that will help keep your practice alive is to do it as part of a like-minded community, both the options above will provide that
A look at Murakamiās Writing Style.
Iām a big fan of the nonfiction work of fiction writers. Stephen Kingās āOn Writingā, Murakamiās āThings I talk about when I talk about writingā, Nick Horbyās ā31 Songsā.
Iāve started reading Murakamiās 1Q84, but even during a two-year lockdown was not able to finish it. I watched this video while eating breakfast, always curious about how artist do their work. I offer this to you as a random semi-educational distraction. Maybe it will inspire you.
šæ Extra: The Day job
I was at the inaugural illustration department, illustrators day. Part of the event was a conversation with two senior art directors. In this weekās extra, Iām going to share my notes on that.
Iāll also give you a quick update on what Iām working on and how itās going.
