How to declutter your brain
Because you need your brain for more important things than storing clutter.
Like your desk, clutter accumulates in your brain.
Like your desk you periodically need to declutter.
Most brain clutter belong in one of two places:
A to do list.
A reference file.
In either case in order to get the clutter out of your head, you need to write.
In conclusion:
Turn your brain clutter into physical or digital clutter.
Sort it in to a to do list and a reference file
What ever you do don’t keep it in your brain. Keeping clutter in your brain will bog you down stop you from being productive or creative.
Yes! I participated in the original course before it became a book. I use a Zettlekasten system on obsidian, I take notes on scraps of paper and every so often collect them into obsidian
Have you heard of the concept of "Second Brain"? There is a guy, Tiago Forte, who came up with the organizational system, and a few folks have templates + tutorials for how to implement it in different platforms. I just started to do it in Notion, and have found it helpful for my illustration projects specifically. I tend to do a lot of research when I'm making an illustration and this helps me to organize all of my "open tabs" literally and figuratively. I've been working with this system for just a couple of weeks so I'm still in the honeymoon phase with it, but it has really got me organized so that I'm more ready to make art instead of spend even more time researching and fact-gathering.
