Welcome to Day 7 of 100days of Drawing icons
Today’s prompt is: Dragon
These are the marked up research drawings I used. Like in Day 6. I collected reference, studied them by adding some notes, then went on to draw the icon from imagination.
I noticed how a Chinese dragon was more decorative with almost cartoon like eyes.
I also studied different animals with similar anatomical features to the dragon.
I also focused largely on the silhouette rather than the details. Adding only a few details to suggest form.
A dragon is such a complex and detailed creature. In the end I stepped back from the detail. Remember in drawing icons, the main goal is to create something readable.
