Christoph Niemann
on being a professional, creating armor and babbling
Christoph Niemann (* 1970) is an artist, author and animator. His work appears regularly on the covers of The New Yorker, National Geographic and The New York Times Magazine.
There is a Netflix documentary on Christoph Niemann , I listened to it while working on a project, occasionally glancing at the screen.
I took some notes of the things that stood out:
The gateway drug, is not creating art, but experiencing art.
“Inspiration is for amatures, us professionals, just go to work in the morning.” - Chuck Close
Kinda trust crazy moments to happen.
Getting rid of everything not essential…
Create an armor of craft around you
Whenever I’m doing great work, I’m feeling terrible, when I feel good about the work I’m doing, it ends up not being very good.
I have to consistently babble to try to refine the art of speaking.
