Character Sheets and a Sketchbook Prompt

adamming.substack.com

Hi! Have a seat,

I’m writing this at 6 pm in the evening, after a good nap thanks to a rainy day.

I’m starting with a cup of decaf, which I plan to switch to green tea as I work my way through the evening.

What are you having?

How has your week been?

I started a little thread for you to share (if you like) a picture of what you’re drinking, and maybe to say something about where you are physically or in your headspace.

Thing of the day.

Last week,

Beth
(who writes, Notes from your friend Beth) asked about Character Sheets, so that’s what we’ll talk about behind the paywall today. But before we get there I just wanted to leave something for everyone.

And today’s thing is this:

A Sketchbook Prompt.

You’ll use 4 sheets of paper, or four pages in a sketchbook.

In the first 3 pages, there are no rules. Give yourself permission to do anything. Be free. Draw something taboo, or copy other artists on the internet. Just fill the pages.

Then, Look at your free drawings, and consider which bits resonated with you in your body. On the fourth sheet, draw your version of that.

You can share your drawings with everyone, here

Alright, I’m going to switch to green tea and talk to the paid subscribers now. I’ll be talking about what the job of a character sheet is and how I make them. And I’ll be hoping to get their thoughts on the subject too. Your’re all invited!

Why Paywall?
