Happy Birthday, Adam! As you know, I recently celebrated the milestone of having a portfolio that I feel is ready to send out to agents, and a picture book dummy ready to go. I'm working on even more book projects while I wait to hear back from those submissions. Let's get back on track with that graphic novel and comic work we started in 2022 so we can both have ours ready to pitch this year!
I have a big birthday milestone coming up this year - 50. And I am treating myself to a 5-week train adventure around Europe.
Illustration-career-wise, I passed the first fully illustrated book published last year and have finished another, though no idea when it might see shops. I hope there will be some more exciting milestones this year and they continue through the next few decades!
I love the idea of being pregnant with the dream! My recent milestone is today. One year since the war began - so it is a heavy one as the world and everything I do shifted towards helping family and friends in Ukraine to survive. But I am seeing how other things find some space in my life these days and I hope to get back to my pre-war plans and goals of pivoting towards illustrating books for kids.
Very small milestone, but this year I feel like I've hit a bit of a stride with my PB writing. Just six months ago I struggled so hard to brainstorm and write, but now it's so much easier to mine my brain for ideas! I feel the creativity moving.
