☕️ Recently, It’s been a little tough for me to build up enough energy to write the newsletter every day. So these newsletter issues that do get banged out are the most valuable, because they keep the chain going. Just keep the chain going.
You don’t get better at chess by playing chess. You get better at chess by doing the hard work of recognising patterns through a large exposure of high quality games and detailed thoughtful study. So say the chess pros.
You don’t get better at football by playing football, you get better at football by playing football. You get better by training well and managing your food and sleep well.
Is it the same with the thing you’re trying to get better at?
Is ‘just doing it the answer?’ , I doubt it.
But what do you think?
How do you get better at the thing you want to get better at?
Make a list of all the ways you can think off, prioritise it by what is most upstream. E.g to be a better illustrator the most upstream task is to find a time and place to do it regularly.
Now work down the list.
You will get better daily in the areas you chose to improve by working on the list daily.
The list of what you work on determines your ‘style’.
This is the reason I think some people work for years and never improve, they are playing, not working.
Today’s Quest
Make a list of activities that will help you get better at what you want to get better at, break it down into day sized chunks, do it everyday.
