The things we need to do come in all shapes and size.
And if we took a careful look at out calendar we’d find that the time we have to do them also come in all shapes and sizes.
It seems so obvious to put the right size task into the right size time slot, but we don’t always do it that way. Sometimes we cram a big task into a tiny time slot and that stresses us out.
Or we put a little task in a big valuable time slot and create waste.
Closing the Gap
Get good at estimating how long things take to do. Try writing your estimate next to the task. After completing the task, check your estimate. If it took way longer or quicker, make a note of it so you can make better estimations. Good estimates will help you find the right times to do certain things.
The goal here is to complete tasks within the available time, to avoid switching cost
