Our toddler has a tummy bug. We are losing sleep over it.

Creative freelancers get ‘sick days’ by building in margin. Margin means do more work when you have the time and energy, and start as early as you can, and plan in more time than you think you will need for the project. And not stacking deadlines too close to one another.

I’m taking a day off to focus my energy on family.

Some priorities work out well in the long run.

  1. Family

  2. Sleep

  3. Work

Close the gap

Build buffers. Start work early. Focus on the bigger picture. A healthy family and a good nights sleep will help you produce better work, everyone wins.

Don’t stack deadlines too close together.

Of course these are ideals, and if they are not possible now, it’s something to work towards
