Hanging my progress of what I’m working on helps me see where I’ve been, what I’m working on and where I’m going :) I also have a caddy of art supplies so I can readily access what I need and see what I have!

Always coffee. Always!

A sketch pad and my pencil, definitely my candle to calm me and classical music.

I feel ready to work already !

I recently got these drawers that fit in a narrow space between the wall and a book shelf. In one of them I put my painting materials and tools. This has really improved the time it takes to set up and clean up, before and after painting. This makes me want to paint more too. I bring the whole drawer to the desk to work, then put everything back in the drawer and store it when I’m done. It makes painting easier.

Hi! My creative space is my dining room. It’s bright! It’s open and life happens there! I work on the kitchen table. It used to work in our basement. A room that is quiet but dark and lonely. Despite the noise, my kitchen/dining room inspires me. I have houseplants, a diffuser for calm smells, and I keep an eye on the kids. ❤️

Hmm. A standing desk with a treadmill has helped enormously. I got it when the pandemic started and I found myself sitting all day inside, and it felt awful. Now I stand all day, and when I feel my brain getting fuzzy in a long meeting or project, I turn on the treadmill and walk. It seems to sweep out the mind cobwebs. Also music (mostly swing jazz, like Sinatra or Catherine Russell) and a little chalkboard to write out the day's projects.
