🎟 Strategy for a freelance illustrator.

adamming.substack.com

Over the course of a few weeks I’ve put together a Strategy for my illustration business. As a freelance illustrator, I think it’s important to think about what I do as a business; which means there are various activities to attend to that have nothing to do with making illustrations.

My previous strategy consisted of 3 activities and one aim.

The activities were:

  1. Complete an illustration portfolio

  2. Get an agent

  3. Be in touch with people who hire illustrators.

With the aim of getting booked for a year with illustration work.

It took me 2 years of working on those activities to achieve that aim, and so it’s incumbent upon me to create a new Strategy that would guide my efforts till 2030.

I am going to tell you about the strategy, without revealing the strategy itself. This post is for paid, subscribers. In it I will explain what strategy is, why we need one, and how I went about creating my strategy with a 10 year outlook.
